Unit 6: An essay

Some environmentalists have given may warnings about the effects of human activity on the environment and I think that if we don't take drastic action, it is certain that there will be dramatic changes in the environment in the next 50 years.
I believe there will be three drastic changes. The first is, as a result of air pollution global tempratures will rise and this will lead to drier. Moreover it can produce natural disasters such as floods and hurricanes.
The second change will be a rise in sea levels. This will mean that pepole living near the coast will lose their homes and have to move to new areas.
Lastly, we are damiging so many natural habitats such as rainforests that many species of animals and plants will become extinct. Because of this reason, the world will lose a lot of its diversity.
In my opinion, we ought to take urgent action to prevent these things from happening, the future for the environment will be disastrous and future generations will criticise us for the damage we have done.

Unit 8: A REPORT

Adventure sports for young people
Introduction
The aim of the report is to suggest what adventure sports young people would interest doing in the club and to outline the benefits from doing these sports.
Which adventure sports?
I asked some people who live in the area which sports they would like to try if a new club gave them the opportunity. The most mentioned suggestions were athletics, mountain biking and paragliding. Other people suggested karate as a very enjoyable sport.
Benefits to young people
The main benefits of these sports for youngsters that they will have unforgettable and new experiences and gave them more independence. At the same time they would make new friends and encourage a team spirit .
Conclusion
I recommend that the sports club should provide the suggested sports at the weekends or holiday period. I am sure that providing these sports young people will go to the club and spend a healthy and fun time.

Writing: Part 1

Dear Caroline,
Thank you so much for your invitation about a summer camp in Australia. It's an excellent idea. Can you tell me what dates the camp is? Also, I'd like to know how much it will cost because I'll probably have to start saving money.
With regard to the subjetcs, do you know what they are taught? I'd really interested in studying English because I need to practise it and another subject is History. I believe that it is very important learning about the culture of Australia.
I like your idea of travelling together. I'd prefer to go to the Great Barrer Reef because I love the sea and I like sunbathing.
I'm sure we'll spend an unforgettable summer! I look forward to seeing you then.
Best wishes,
Marina

Story: My holiday nightmare

It was a trip I'll never forget. Last year, I was backpacking in the Caribbean with my friend Matt. After we had spent a week in Honduras, we decided to go to the island of Utila. As the flight to the island was too expensive, we booked a boat trip on the Caribbean Queen, a cargo boat which carried provisions to the islanders.

The Caribbean Queen was an old and broken-down boat. As we steeped on deck, I wondered if we had made the right decision. There were no other passangers, but it was too late to turn back. As soon as we had climbed on board, the blond captain shouted orders, and we started the trip.

The sun shone brightly as we set out on our trip. However an hour later the sea began to get rough. A storm was approaching and very soon waves were pouring over the deck. Suddenly there was a shout from below. The engine room was flooded! The boat was in trouble and the crew were told to start throwing the provisions overboard. Meanwhile I got panic. I asked for a lifejacket, but I was told that there weren't any. Panic turned to fear and I started to cry. Fortunately, after a few minutes, the pump started to work again. The captain steered us through four hours of stormy weather, until we reached the calm harbour at Utila. Finally as we walked off the Caribbean Queen, I promise that whatever the price, we would travel by plane anywhere.

Writing: Opinion Article

Roller -skatting, my favourite free time

I started roller-skatting five years ago when I was about 15. I was staying with my sister, who is an excellent roller-skater and I wanted to try it for myself. I learnt it fast so I felt very proud of me.
I found it was very exciting and helpful for your health because you were doing exercise. I went everywhere twice a week with my friends o sometimes alone even I go roller- skatting inside of my house!
After a long time I decided to start a roller-skatiing lessons. It was very interesting and satisfying. Moreover I joined a roller-skatting club which participated in different competitions so it was a hard challenge for me. Luckily we gained the majority of competitions, we felt thrilled for that.
I'd recommend it as a great leisure because for me it's one of the most usefl and fantastic sport I can imagine.
